Director, Global External Manufacturing Procurement - ADC Portfolio (12 months)
Reporting to the Director External Manufacturing Procurement, this role will be accountable for developing and executing the procurement strategy linked to our new Antibody Drug Conjugates contract manufacturing partners. This is a new manufacturing technology platform for AZ so the strategy includes supplier identification, establishment and scale up as well as the launch of new commercial medicines for AZ. For ADC’s the Procurement Director will ensure end-to-end commercial strategy for the products manufactured with each partner. Optimizing the commercial strategy across the key CMO’s supporting those brands, inclusive of supplier touchpoints across Global Procurement.
Manage ADC commercial priorities (contracting, savings initiatives, new establishment, risk management) utilizing category resources reporting into this position. Ensure strong alignment with key business stakeholders in External Supply and Manufacture, Global Supply Chain, Supplier Quality and Finance.
A leadership role that provides overall management and leadership to a category family globally or within a country or small region. Ensures that sourcing and procurement strategies are aligned to corporate strategy and feasible with existing and future suppliers. Alternatively may oversee the implementation of complex, strategic regional or global sourcing solutions in specific area of expertise.
Main responsibilities:
Strategy:
Accountable for designing, and implementation of category, region or market strategies to optimize business efficiency.
Accountable for category management either globally, regionally or locally including strategic sourcing, SC&I, contract and risk management.
Accountable for developing and maintaining expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors and product innovations.
Works with Procurement in understanding the global spend and identifying opportunities to increase quality and improve value for money. Facilitate implementation of procurement change initiatives within category to improve business performance.
Leadership:
Accountable for managing stakeholders in a matrix environment to deliver category targets.
Leads, Coaches and develops professional aspects of Procurement team members
Business & Supplier Engagement:
Develop an extensive understanding of customer needs and the business environment. Build strong relationship with customers and ensure customer satisfaction.
Work with the Strategic Intelligence team to perform procurement reporting and analysis of management information to identify potential improvement opportunities as well as identification of innovative procurement solutions that provide cashable savings and process efficiencies for the organization.
Address Supplier issues to ensure the highest level of service delivery. Maintains contractual and business relationships with Suppliers to the highest standards.
Fosters trusted relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
Directs new initiatives and improvement programmes aimed at ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, technical excellence and improving cost-effectiveness
Develops senior level relationships in order to resolve issues, optimise business performance and develop future improvement opportunities
Instil the highest standards of compliance and ethics consistently across AZ
Essential Skills:
Degree level qualification
Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical industry
Expertise in at least one area of Procurement and knowledge of several others
Proven leadership experience
7 years Procurement experience
Procurement Category Management experience
Communication skills and ability to influence others
Ability to lead and influence senior stakeholders both internally and at Board level with suppliers.
Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations
