Finance Lead – Operations & Inventory Accounting (EMEA)

This role is responsible for leading and managing a team, comprising approximately 25 analysts/senior analysts, that will provide forecasting, reporting and analysis to AZ Senior Management within FP&A and Record to Report to a specified business function.

The Finance Lead will:

  • Be responsible for the management of a team of Business Analysts and for the service delivery of the team
  • Be part of the GFS Ops Leaders team and collaborating closely with other Finance Leads and other management team colleagues.
  • Collaborate closely with Ops Finance GPO and Planning & Management Reporting Global Process Lead in implementing policies & standards
  • Driving and implementing the vision defined by GPO for P&MR and Ops Finance, within GFS Ops
  • Act as an escalation point for service delivery issues relating to process in charge
  • Work with the wider AZ business to ensure compliance to the agreed finance processes and standard model for GFS delivery
  • Drive for continuous improvement and standardisation of the process in charge in collaboration with the GPO and Business counterparts
  • Ensure transitions of activities both into and out of the team are prepared well and managed effectively
  • Establish a cultural environment which promotes transparency and empowerment instilling a strong customer service and high-performance culture
  • Lead planning activities at Site and Global levels, with multiple stakeholders and counterparts

Key Responsibilities

GFS Global Process Leadership

  • Collaborate with GPO to deploy global processes and ensure adherence to standard processes
  • Decide the process implementation plan and CI initiatives
  • Key contact for ‘external’ projects impacting process area
  • Work collaboratively with other regions in ensuring standard ways of working
  • Ensure alignment of strategy with the business / finance needs of the key customers
  • Define annual performance objectives for the team in agreement with senior finance leadership
  • Ensure effective business planning processes are in place
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of overall finance strategy

GFS global services leadership

  • Ensure alignment of strategy with the business / finance needs of the key customers
  • Define annual performance objectives for the team in agreement with senior finance leadership

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of overall finance strategy

Service Delivery/Performance

  • Ensure process designs are consistent with GPO vision, instigating process improvement initiatives where appropriate
  • Ensure policies, processes and operating procedures are clearly defined, up-to-date and documented and aligned globally
  • Agree service level agreements, covering all core processes performed by the team, with all key customers
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators are clearly defined for each process performed
  • Ensure service delivery meets performance/quality standards defined in service level agreements
  • Report on performance against performance/quality standards defined in service level agreements, and KPIs to key customers
  • Pro-actively advise the Operations Director on any issues which might affect performance.
  • Work proactively with stakeholders to ensure master data impacting product costing processes are maintained with high quality

TEAM MANAGEMENT

Organisational effectiveness

  • Accountable for contributing to activities to improve AZ’s EVP, employee experience and employee engagement within the team
  • Be responsible for creating and motivating collaborative teams that are firmly focussed on results, process & continuous improvement
  • Support the GFS Ops Management Team in the resolution of significant performance capability and/or development needs that may arise

Resourcing & development

  • Ensuring the team is staffed with the appropriate skills and levels of staff to meet the demands of the business and volumes of transactions
  • Accountable for the development and delivery of the future resource requirements
  • Accountable/Responsible for managing future Organisational changes within the team
  • Develop career path and opportunities for key talent
  • Create a platform for high employee engagement, and ensure people management skills are developed and maintained.
  • Responsible for succession planning, and driving the subsequent development actions for staff to ensure sufficient talent is available to meet future business needs

Requirements

Essential criteria

  • Recognised Financial Qualification
  • At least 5 years leadership experience working in a similar shared services and/or business environment
  • Significant relevant business and finance Shared Services experience, notably in FP&A
  • Management of a team (required)
  • Manufacturing accounting experience
  • Strong commercial and business focus in a profit making organisation
  • Track record of managing complex business relationships
  • Ability to drive and manage change
  • Ability to think strategically and work with peers to create solutions for the Enterprise
  • A strong leader with excellent communication skills
  • Championed and lead continuous improvement initiatives in Finance
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable criteria

  • Good knowledge of finance transactional processes
  • Ability to speak more than one language
  • Living and working experience in different cultures
  • Prior experience in managing cross cultural teams
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Delivering and managing a Service Management Framework, creating a robust service oriented culture
  • Good knowledge of finance transactional processes
