Assoc. Director /Sr. Manager - IP
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage and support adversarial IP activities in China and International markets
- Support IP and regulatory matters in new modalities medicines (e.g. cell therapies)
- Support all aspects of IP litigation, invalidation and administrative proceedings
- Advice on all settlement/licensing matters relating to IP proceedings
- Develop and implement IP litigation strategies for key products
- Manage and work with outside litigation council to implement corporate strategies
- Forge and foster relationships with external and internal partners in support of IP policies and strategies internationally
- Persistently partner with and counsel BUs on opportunities to protect inventions
- Provide IP support in transaction opportunities, evaluation of in-licensing opportunities, negotiation support, contract drafting during active transactions
JOB REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES
- Practical experience with the Chinese (or ex-China) IP system; experience with patent invalidation and reexamination proceedings; in-depth understanding of patent prosecution practices in China
- Knowledge and experience with IP and legal issues in new modalities medicines
- Familiarity with IP law trends and development, skills to search, analyze and synthesize patent information on pharmaceutical products
- Strong customer-service orientation to build and sustain good working partnerships with key stakeholders and project teams
- Effective analytical, presentation and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work creatively, independently and collaboratively
- Strong organization and time management skills with flexibility, creativity, resourcefulness to successfully prioritize and manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
Working experience
at least 8 years of practice experience as IP attorney/counsel at a reputable IP law firm and/or biotech/pharmaceutical company
- Essential: patent litigation and/or prosecution experience; experience with all aspects of
- Desirable:
- Certified patent attorney with practical work experience at a reputable IP firm or biotech/pharmaceutical company;
- In-depth knowledge and experience with IP/legal issues in regulatory, pre- and clinical research relating to new modalities medicines.
- Language ability: fluent in spoken/written English
