Director, R&D IT – Business Partner, E2E R&D

Role Overview

As a Senior IT Business Partner, you will be the nexus between our R&D business units and IT solutions, building robust partnerships to support and exceed strategic business goals. Your role as a trusted advisor will enable R&D China business unit to leverage technology, data, and AI to achieve a decisive competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership: Develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with R&D business units, understanding both short-term and long-term objectives to deliver tailored IT solutions.

  • Visionary Leadership: Provide strategic vision for digital transformation, ensuring alignment with cutting-edge digital, data, and AI technologies.

  • Innovative Problem Solving: Employ critical thinking to challenge the status quo and solve complex problems with innovative and effective solutions.

  • Value Creation: Design and implement hands-on delivery solutions that create tangible business value, supporting the organization in reaching its strategic goals.

  • Advisory Role: Serve as a trusted advisor, facilitating knowledge transfer and mentoring to stakeholders within the business units.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains, driving continuous improvement across all IT-related interactions. 

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Proven track record of strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.

  • Extensive experience in strategic IT decision-making within a pharma R&D environment.

  • Deep knowledge of digital transformation, data strategies, and AI technology applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver hands-on strategic solutions that align with business objectives, both in proof-of-concept stage & at scale.

  • Critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills with the capacity to challenge existing processes.  Agility to move swiftly mobilising teams (internal & third party)

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences. Proficiency in planning, change management and problem solving and able to resolve issues of a highly complex and strategic nature

  • Proven ability to relate and respond to business needs in an IT environment

  • Ability to manage negotiations, expectations and solutions across complex groups

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in and knowledge of broader bio-pharma industry

  • Involvement in pharma thought leadership networks and organisations

  • Agile development methodologies

  • Pharmaceutical background.

  • Building business cases for new value stream creation.

  • Expertise in partnership ecosystem creation, innovation model setup (people, process and technology)

  • Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams

  • Ability to partner and work in a matrix organisation
