Market Intelligence manager
Typical Accountabilities
- Provision of Deal Intelligence: Systematically monitor and analyze global and China licensing and M&A transactions, including deal terms, structures, valuations, and strategic rationales; maintain trackers and create concise summaries and benchmarks.
- Provision of Competitive Intelligence: Profile key companies and assets; compare pipelines, clinical progress, and partnering activity; identify whitespace and differentiation opportunities.
- Provision of Therapeutic Area Insights: Develop market landscape briefs for priority TAs (oncology, CVRM, R&I, V&I, rare disease), highlighting clinical and commercial dynamics relevant to BD.
- Provision of China R&D Highlights: Track China-originated assets, pivotal trial readouts, NMPA regulatory updates, and emerging platforms; assess potential global relevance and partnering opportunities.
- Provision of Commercial Landscape: Analyze market size, growth drivers, pricing/reimbursement, access trends, and competitive positioning for selected indications/assets in China and globally.
- Delivery of periodic reports/analyses: Prepare tailor-made slide decks, newsletters, and periodic reports that clearly communicate findings, implications, and key trends in the focused areas.
- Data Tools & Automation: Leverage public datasets and AI-enabled monitoring to scale scanning and alerting; ensure data quality and reproducibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with BD & Venture Fund, R&D, and commercial stakeholders (e.g., NPP, finance, medical) to align insight priorities and validate assumptions.
- Budget: Utilize existing platforms/sources in a cost-effective manner and ensure that cost-effectiveness is a driver in any recommendation for additional platforms/sources. Contribute to evaluations of existing & potential new sources of competitive intelligence.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in life sciences, pharmacy/medicine, or a quantitative field (e.g., economics, data science)
- Experience: Prior work experience in competitive intelligence, market analysis, equity research, consulting, investment banking, healthcare VC/PE or BD analytics within biopharma/medtech is highly preferred
- Essential: Understanding of and experience of operating in a customer driven environment; Experience in the production of summaries of complex data; Highly organized; Strong analytical skills; Strong communication skills, both in written documents and verbally in the presentation environment; Pragmatic problem solving / analytical mind; Measured focus on delivery under pressure; Technology, Software and Platform/Source Knowledge; ‘Expert’ knowledge of the core external competitive intelligence sources (e.g., PharmaCube, Ding Xiang Yuan Insights, EvaluatePharma, GBI, IQVIA reports, broker research, Factiva, IMS/MDART database, SEC filings, Citeline Trialtrove, etc).
- Skills: Analytical rigor in market sizing, benchmarking, and trend synthesis. Structured communication with excellent English writing and presentation skills; Mandarin proficiency beneficial for China sources. Data handling using Excel/Sheets; visualization tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Power BI) and basic scripting/automation are an advantage. Structured communication skills with experience producing executive-ready slides and concise written briefs. Strong project management, independence and collaboration, with strong attention to detail and objectivity.
- Desirable: Knowledge of priority TAs (oncology, CVRM, R&I, V&I, rare disease), familiarity and experience with implementing AI/LLM/Agent-enabled projects
