Role Overview
Part of a global team , we are looking for a Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer to work primarily with AWS, Azure and GCP technologies to enable project, product and platform teams to bring value to AstraZeneca through the use of Cloud.
We’re looking for someone who can collaborate across a variety of teams and roles – Architects, Product Owners, Data Scientists and Software Developers in order to engineer high quality cloud solutions
There is also a focus, where appropriate, on enabling project, product and platform teams to deliver independently, so automation, self-service, provision of guardrails, and baking of process and governance into workflow and technology is a factor.
Requirements of the role
In depth experience with setup, configuration and maintenance of Cloud services
Proficient in designing scalable and resilient cloud architectures.
Experience with architecting solutions using cloud-native services and technologies.
Expertise in IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) for automating infrastructure provisioning.
Skilful in writing modular and reusable infrastructure code.
Experience of working in agile teams using methodologies and use of Jira and Confluence.
Proven expertise in AWS, Azure or GCP (preferably at least 2)
Deployment
Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
Experience in developing scripts to streamline deployment processes.
Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Security and Compliance
Good understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
Experience implementing security controls in cloud environments.
Familiarity with identity and access management concepts in cloud platforms
Expertise in understanding, remediating and reporting risks in and out of scope of the role.
Experience in optimizing cloud resources for cost efficiency.
Ability to identify and address performance bottlenecks in cloud environments.
Expertise in designing scalable architectures to handle varying workloads.
Knowledge of auto-scaling configurations and strategies
Ability to lead incident response efforts in case of system outages or security incidents.
Strong diagnostic skills for identifying root causes of issues.
Proficient in troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure problems.
Collaboration & Communication
Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work closely with developers, operations, and other stakeholders.
Effective communication of design decisions and rationale to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently to deliver objectives
Experience of working in agile teams using methodologies such as SCRUM and SAFe and use of Jira and Confluence.
Must be able to find time to develop technical and non-technical skills, even during peak demand cycles
