Business Area
Global Engineering works closely with the Operations, R&D and Commercial functions within AstraZeneca to deliver major capital investments for the company (typically over $10million). The capital expansion program involves the engineering, construction and qualification of both new and growing assets. In addition to the asset provision activities, Global Engineering supports the Business by providing technical support to sites and other global functions. Global Engineering is made up of a mixture of Project Managers, Project Control Specialists, Project Technical Managers and Subject Matter Experts. These positions fit into project teams and work directly with third party design and construction partners to deliver facilities that meet AstraZeneca’s requirements for safety, quality, time and cost.
This exciting role within Global Engineering, will be centred on working either within project teams or on your own initiative in support of overseeing design, installation and commissioning of Electrical & Control systems within the Asia-Pacific region.
Approximately 20% of your time will be spent travelling within the Asia-Pacific region.
Responsibilities
As an Associate Principal Subject Matter Expert (Mechanical) you'll work with a team of specialists within the Global Engineering & Technical Solutions team who provide a range of services to all parts of the AstraZeneca business including:
Engineering technology stewardship
Identification, translation and delivery of engineering technologies
Product and process design and improvement
New asset provision
Existing asset improvement
Digital Solution Integration
Our multi-functional team leads the technical definition and digital integration associated with, pharmaceutical facility capital project delivery. We also provide technical support to address process control and day to day operational problems.
You'll be responsible for designing and delivering the technical aspects of Mechanical systems on a variety of capital projects. Working with key business users you will convert our business goals into technical solutions demonstrating influencing and technical leadership capabilities.
You'll also be responsible for defining Mechanical systems requirements on projects: communicating these requirements to designers/vendors and ensuring that systems are specified and delivered in alignment with the AstraZeneca requirements. Further you will provide design assurance overview and technical feedback during capital project design - from concept through detailed design and equipment selection.
You'll support Project Managers, Project Technical Managers and Work Package Owners during all phases of projects to include supervising the flow of information between designers, vendors, contractors and internal resources to deliver design intent and meet quality standards.
Essential skills and requirements:
A Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering and/or Building Services.
Experienced in the specification, procurement, maintenance, installation and commissioning of electrical/control systems in the pharmaceutical R&D and Operations environment (or other comparable industries such as chemical, oil/gas, health care, automated manufacturing etc).
Proficient communicator (written and verbal) in English.
Mobility within Asia-Pac region.
Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative but also able to be a strong team interaction skills.
