SM/AD - Early Oncology & Hematology BD, Venture Fund
JOB PURPOSE
- Mission of AstraZeneca International BD & Venture Fund – Driving China-originated partnership strategy that boosts AZ 2030 ambition across R&D, Commercial and Ops
- This position and its work stream focus on establishing innovative external partnerships: 1) bring in exciting new innovations in medicine for China & international regions via licensing activities; 2) equity investment in cutting-edge private biotech companies from China.
- The recruit will be part of the International BD & Fund team to work closely with external partners and multiple internal functions to explore business growth opportunities and help AstraZeneca optimize its oncology & hematology product portfolio.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
- Our core responsibility is to build and execute various types of external partnerships, including BD deals, fund strategic investments, and R&D combo studies, to drive AstraZeneca oncology & hematology future business growth.
- This position is to develop solid business cases to get internal approval and external alignment toward partnerships.
- Build a thorough understanding of AstraZeneca’s oncology & hematology portfolio and other related therapeutic areas to screen and identify new partnership opportunities
- Support the execution of the deal by working with cross-functional collaboration in AZ with key stakeholders, including BU, MA, R&D, NPP, Finance and Legal to ensure clear objective alignment, transparent communication and close teamwork
- Need to build strong rapport with leadership team as well as all cross functions, to quickly navigate the system and get sufficient internal endorsement
REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. / M.D., majored in biology, chemistry, medicine, pharmacology or any other relevant fields
- Minimum 2-3 years of BD or VC experience, or a hybrid with pharma/biotech R&D experience
- Knowledge and prior exposure in the field of hematology is a must, broader exposure in oncology field is upside
- Familiarity with novel therapeutic modalities, e.g. engagers, degraders, XDC, are preferred
- Strong academic training background and publication track record are highly preferred
- Innovative thinking, openness to new ideas, comfortability with uncertainties, and ability to think out of box are core competencies for the job
- Excellent project management and analytical skills, with experience in an environment requiring significant data analysis and cross-functional interaction
- Able to think analytically and strategically, synthesize information quickly and logically
- Commitment to teamwork and able to work with a cross functional team
- Prior working experience with diversified culture background is a plus
- Fluent Mandarin Chinese & English, both written and verbal
- Skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint slides making and Excel
