Associate Academic Alliance Manager

Support AZ R&D China to form collaboration with: 1) academic research institutes/ clinical centres and 2) AZ Global R&D Alliance. The scope will include contracting shaping and completion, prioritization of collaboration projects, and support & monitoring of projects. The therapeutic areas will cover Oncology, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, auto-immune disorders, metabolic diseases, and rare diseases.

Major responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize contract documents.
  • Understand and administer contracts to ensure the obligations and responsibilities are met in a timely, accurate, effective, and compliant manner.
  • Negotiating, developing and revising contracts and manage study related budgets.
  • Ensuring any changes are integrated into the main study contract efficiently and accurately.
  • Closely work with internal project team to ensure negotiations occur within timelines.
  • Project managing the contracting process, ensuring timely execution of contracts
  • Measuring and assessing payment claims. Ensuring invoices are approved and paid.
  • Manage the resolution of contract inconsistencies and/ or changes in terms and conditions via coordinated discussions.
  • Working closely with project teams to determine appropriate terms and conditions of study contracts
  • Report on periodic bases on contractual performance
  • Document and track study activities and archive study related documentation
  • Achieve operational excellence and increase the visibility of the China alliance activities and the impacts they generated
  • Monitor all alliance related activities and lead joint teams in resolving issues regarding effective communication, conflict or role clarification. Pro-actively anticipate risks and needs and identify optimal solutions to aligned with the Oncology Leadership strategy
  • Responding to external inquiries and identifying the right internal stakeholders to address questions
  • Run external engagement events including scientific exchanges
  • Prepare and deliver external presentations; work with internal project and portfolio teams to gather presentation

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Background

  • Advanced degree in science with >3 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of drug development strategy and process
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Project management experience and capability, proven experience in alliance/ partnership/ transaction excellence; experience building, maintaining and closing partnerships
  • Ability to understand integrated regional and local delivery needs
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally based on business needs
  • Willingness to work in a global team environment across multiple time zones
